Who we are
The Pittsburgh Concert Chorale was founded in 1985. Some of our current singers were founding members. Other members weren’t born yet when we presented our first of many concerts over the following decades. We are from all ages and stages of life joined together by our love of singing, our sense of community, and our passion for performance. One a week our members travel from five surrounding counties to rehearse and make beautiful music together. Under the leadership of our highly acclaimed Musical Director Dr. Susan Medley, we strive to bring a diverse range of beautifully sung choral music to growing audiences throughout the year.
What we do
Currently, the Chorale presents 3 major programs of varied music each season, including a holiday concert in December, classical works with instruments in March, and a POPS program in May. We sponsor Pittsburgh Sings! A Festival of Choirs, an event held each October at Carnegie Music Hall that gives local high school choirs an opportunity to sing in this world-class venue. In recent years we have sung the National Anthem at PNC Park and performed at Summer Fridays at the Frick.
Why We Sing
"I enjoy singing with choruses which strive for excellence. I started, years ago, with the University of Pittsburgh Men’s Glee Club and currently sing with the Chorale and North Hills Harmony Line Chorus, Barbershop Harmony. I find this “hobby” rewarding and look forward to singing for years to come."
- Cliff, 69, retired Pennsylvania State Police Trooper
"I began my public singing career in 6th grade with a barbershop octet called “The Little Shavers.” I've been singing with the PCC since 2009, and I also sing in my church choir and the Pan-Orthodox Choir of Pittsburgh.
- Scott, 58, Research Program Manager
"I have sung with the PCC for 23 years. I love choral music, especially classical and sacred. It is so enjoyable and rewarding to learn how to sing a wide range of choral music under the leadership of our skilled and competent music director, Dr. Susan Medley. It is great to be a part of a terrific group of people that have the same interests"
- Ron, approx. 80, retired chemical engineer
"I love that singing allows me to escape from reality and live in the moment - in the song."
- Veronica, 24, Marketing & Sales Coordinator
