Pittsburgh Concert Chorale Returns to Live Performances Just in Time for the Holidays!

Updated: Oct 28, 2021

Holiday gems, European tour selections, and long-awaited fan favorites highlighted in PCC’s joyous new season.

The Pittsburgh Concert Chorale is thrilled to be back together after 18 months apart. “Nothing compares to the sound of live music, and we are so enjoying singing in person again,” Music Director Dr. Susan Medley shared at a recent Board of Directors meeting. “We are committed to keeping everyone safe as we rehearse and are following the most recent guidelines for choral singing.”

PCC’s Sounds of the Season concerts have become a holiday tradition for the whole family. This year's performances feature seasonal classics, beloved carols, and Christmas and Hanukkah favorites. Concerts take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, and 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, at Ingomar United Methodist Church, 1501 W. Ingomar Rd.; and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church, 384 Fox Chapel Rd.

The group’s March 2022 concerts, From Pittsburgh to Salzburg, feature music that the chorale will perform in Munich, Salzburg, Prague, and other European cities as part of its COVID-delayed concert tour of Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic. The program will include music from the composers who lived and worked in these cities, such as Bach, Mozart, and Clara Schumann, as well as the American spirituals, Broadway, and folk songs that European audiences love to hear. “The variety of musical styles is sure to appeal to a wide audience, and we are excited to share this music with our Pittsburgh audiences before we ‘take it on the road,’” Medley reported.

Coronavirus twice postponed the group’s annual Pops Concerts, 35 Years of Favorites. Songs for these performances were requested by singers and audience members from pieces sung by PCC over its 35-year history. In May 2022, audiences will finally have the chance to hear this concert, renamed 35...36...37 Years of Favorites. This exciting collection of PCC's "greatest hits" is sure to “delight both longtime fans of the Pittsburgh Concert Chorale and those hearing us for the first time,” Medley shared.
