

2011-2012 Concert Season:
“Brilliant, Breathtaking, Bold!”
Performances feature music of Christmas in early December, a classical work in early March, and a Broadway Pops concert in early May.
Traditionally performing in the North Hills area of Pittsburgh, the audience outreach this year will extend into South Hills with an additional Pops concert at St. Paul Episcopal Church in Mt. Lebanon.
Holiday Concert: December 2, 3, 4, 2011. “Brilliant Brass: Holiday Music for Chorus and Brass." Accompaniment will be provided by David Billings, organ, the Pittsburgh Ceremonial Brass, and percussion. Concert selections will include Gabrieli's Jubilate Deo, Rutter's Gloria, Pinkham's Christmas Cantata, and traditional holiday favorites.
Classical Concert: March 3 & 4,
2012. “Breathtaking Beauty: Rachmaninoff Vespers (All Night Vigil) Op.
37: Considered the finest of Rachmaninoff’s sacred compositions, the Vespers,
also known as All Night Vigil, is an extraordinary work of exquisite beauty.
The Pittsburgh Concert Chorale is honored to share this monumental a cappella
work with our audiences. The soloists for this work will be mezzo-soprano Eva
Rainforth and tenor Joseph
Gaines.

Pops Concert: May 4*, 5, & 6 “Bold
Broadway: The Best of the Great White Way” This concert will feature Broadway
favorites from such legendary composers as Cole Porter, Leonard Bernstein,
Andrew Lloyd Webber, Meredith Wilson, and more. A three-piece jazz combo
will accompany the Chorale: Bryan
Sable (Piano), Justin
Bendel (Bass), and Robert
Rawsthorne (Percussion).

Repertoire in past concerts
Christmas repertoire in past season included music by John Rutter, PDQ Bach, John Jacob Niles, Craig Courtney, Moses Hogan, and arrangements of familiar Christmas carols and popular holiday tunes.
The Classical Concerts have included Haydn’s Creation, Liebeslieder Waltzes by Brahms, King David by Honegger, the Fauré Requiem, and Poulenc’s Gloria.
Pops concerts repertoire has featured music of the 50's and 60's, movie music, Broadway duos, Jazz, and Pittsburgh-focused works such as Stephen Foster and Mister Rogers.
